Bunch App

Trigger

Default Keyword: bbb

Overview

Cluster’s functionality to control the Bunch app directly is available via a combined list of options. These are presented as a series of options in Alfred when this function is triggered.

Most users will not need to control aspects of the app directly, and so they have been added, for convenience, into one section. You can however build your own automations utilising Cluster’s functionality to allow direct access to a particular function since Cluster includes numerous external trigger points.

The available actions/flows available from this flow are detailed below.

Change Preferences

The Change Preferences action produces yet another list of options that allow you to change some of Bunch’s configuration settings without having to go via Bunch’s preferences page. The available options are listed below.

While technically a preference, the bunches folder location was one which is probably more likely to change regularly and so the functionality for this was explicitly moved to the same level as Change Preferences. See Set Bunches Folder and Switch Bunches Folder for details.

Debug Level

BUNCH BUG

Unfortunately there is a bug in Bunch at the moment that means this functionality does not currently work. Brett has picked up the issue I raised for this in the GitHub repo and it will be fixed in due course. When it is fixed, I will modify the Cluster workflow to remove the display of the message about this bug.

When triggered, Debug Level allows you to specify the level of debugging you want to set Bunch to use. The options are presented as a list in Alfred for you to choose from.

  • Level 0: No Debugging
  • Level 1: Errors Only
  • Level 2: Errors and Warnings
  • Level 3: All Messages
  • Level 4: Debug Messages

BUNCH BUG

Unfortunately there is a bug in Bunch at the moment that means this functionality does not currently work. I have raised an issue for this in the GitHub repo and hopefully it will be fixed in due course. When it is fixed, I will modify the Cluster workflow to remove the display of the message about this bug.

Preserve Open Bunches toggles the Bunch app’s setting for restoring any open bunches at Bunch app start up.

Single Bunch Mode

Single Bunch Mode toggles the Bunch app’s setting for whether or not Bunch will automatically close any open bunch when a new bunch is triggered to be opened. Bunches containing the single bunch mode: ignore entry in their front matter are exempt from this.

Toggle Bunches

Toggle Bunches toggles the Bunch app’s setting for if bunch states are maintained. When this setting is enabled, check marks are shown in the Bunch (app) menu to indicate if a Bunch is active or not. Note also that when this setting is enabled, Bunch can take different actions when opening and closing a bunch. Bunches containing the toggles: false entry in their front matter are exempt from this.

Force Refresh

Force Refresh will trigger Bunch to reload information about the available bunches. If you find that the information about your bunches are not showing up quite as intended, triggering this should clear most issues.

Open Preferences

Open Preferences will open the Bunch app’s preferences/settings page.

Quit

Running Quit will simply quit the Bunch app.

Restart

Running Restart will quit the Bunch app and then relaunch it. If Bunch is behaving oddly, then a full restart will usually clear any issues.

Restore Example

When triggered, Restore Example will place a copy of the Bunch app’s bunch example file into the current bunches folder. This copy is exactly as it would be created if you were installing the app for the first time.

If you want to create a new bunch file based on the example bunch file rather than restoring it, you can do so via the example option of the Create a New Bunch action.

Reveal

Bunch has a setting that specifies where to find bunch files. Triggering Reveal will send a request to Bunch to open the location in the Finder app.

Set Bunches Folder

Bunch has a setting that specifies where to find bunch files. Using Set Bunches Folder will trigger a dialog where you can select a folder, and Bunch will then be set to use that folder instead.

See also Switch Bunches Folder for a way to quickly switch between common locations.

Switch Bunches Folder

As well as being able to browse to a specific folder (using Set Bunches Folder), Cluster can also be configured to allow quick switching between folders. For example if you have a folder of bunches you use for work, one for home, and one for testing, then you could configure Cluster with these, then when triggering the Switch Bunches Folder action, you are presented with a list of locations and you can specify which one you wish to use. Bunch’s setting for the bunch folder location will then be updated accordingly.

To use this function, you must first configure your bundle folder locations.
